Katja Paulina ist a German-Colombian ceramicist based in Berlin. She began working with clay in 2017 in a small studio in Hamburg and has been exploring the material ever since.

Her work focuses on functional sculptural objects, made on the pottery wheel and with hand-building techniques. The objects are characterised by a timeless, classic aesthetic with a playful sense of form. The process remains visible in each piece, where intentional imperfections and tactile surfaces are fundamental to the work.

The name vargasvargas is derived from her Colombian family name. It reflects her cultural roots, a connection to traditional craftsmanship, and the influence of magical realism.
